CALM’s free, anonymous, confidential helpline and webchat service is open 365 days a year from 5pm to midnight, for anyone that needs to talk about life’s problems, including those at the point of crisis. Our service provides an alternative to volunteer-led listening services by using highly trained professional staff who are able to provide practical support and intervention. We provide non-clinical support, tangible solutions and the help needed to stop someone reaching crisis point - and crucially can intervene to save a life if someone is in imminent danger. In 2020 we answered 144,023 calls and chats and directly prevented 556 suicides through this service.
SANE is a leading UK charity providing emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness. Our services are available from 2pm until 10 pm, 365 days a year. Our experienced team of staff and volunteers are available in the ways that best suit people’s individual needs – phone calls, longer term support, emails and texts.
We campaign and influence. Driven by people with personal experience of mental illness, we campaign nationally and locally to push mental health up the public agenda and change government policy for the better.
We improve the lives of people severely affected by mental illness through our network of local groups and services, expert information and successful campaigning. Our goal is to make sure everyone affected by severe mental illness has a good quality of life.
